Notable changes
Improvements have been made to the Alias Manager in order to be more self-explanatory and intuitive. Drop-down menus have replaced some of the toggles and the user’s primary email address is mentioned below the header to make it clearer that all emails sent to the user’s aliases are forwarded to this particular inbox.
The option to let your browser remember your Master Key for a set amount of time has been refined in order to offer comfort, security and a more user-friendly process. Learn more about how this feature works
A card has been added to the “Getting started” section to explain how the Master Key works when it is used as an extra security level of authentication (in addition to being the only key able to decrypt the users’ data).
It is now possible to exclude companies for data collection individually from the Data Manager (it was possible to do it from the Toolbar before, but only when visiting the said website).
It is now possible to better see which data were entered manually and which ones were automatically added to the Data Manager through the data collection feature. Data can now be easily sorted this way thanks to 2 new buttons in the header of the Manager.
The Toolbar doesn’t allow users to block or allow trackers on all websites anymore. It stays in its contextual role and only applies to the visited website (this feature is still available from the Tracker Panel though).
Better communication has been put in place in order to let the users know when they have been disconnected unexpectedly. A question mark is added to the browser extension’s icon (in the navigation bar) and notifications are sent every 24 hours.
A message was added within the Main Window to inform the users when the internet connection is lost.
Notable bug fix
Users were sometimes experiencing problems with the data collection because of connection issues on Firefox. It has been resolved.
Known issue
expedia.com has a bug that blocks the creation of an account with an alias email address on some devices. This is not linked to the validity of the alias though, and you can use the same alias to create an account from a different device.

A widget able to generate an alias email address on the go was added to the spotlight screen in v1.23. In v1.26 extra efforts have been put into explaining where to find it, how it works and how to set it up. A new “Getting started” card has been added with a tutorial video, as well as an entry in the settings with a setup video and an animation to introduce the feature at the beginning of the new user’s journey. The Privowny Autofill feature is very user-friendly to log into accounts, but had limitations (due to the OS), which made it unreliable to use to register new accounts. A workaround had been found in v1.22, and, due to its popularity and ease-of-use, we decided to add a tutorial video to bring attention to it. Additionally, the setup of the Safari Extension has been removed for users using iOS>12 since it had then become redundant.
Notable bug fixes
The app would sometimes crash when users were trying to use the search feature in the Data Manager. It has been resolved.
Known issues
The Privowny Autofill feature has some limitations for retrieving credentials. This is fixed with the use of iOS 13.
