There is no need to give services your real email address ever again. When registering new accounts, for newsletters, or other services, or when updating your credentials with an existing service, use the Alias Manager to generate alias email addresses. Services will send emails to this alias and Privowny App will reroute them to your account’s primary email address with the mention “Via Privowny” in the sender name. To create aliases in context:
use the Smartfield Icon (our logo, found in the right side of fields) on your desktop browser
use the Safari Extension or Privowny Autofillwhen registering on a site or app from your iOS device.
use the Aliases widget from your iOS device for an alias on the go
You can also open the Alias Manager on any Privowny App product, click the button, and follow the prompts to generate an alias email.
You can stop spam and unwanted emails sent to any of your alias email addresses.
From the Browser Extension or mobile apps, open the Alias Manager, find the alias you’re looking for and switch the toggle to gray (blocked) to stop receiving emails, or back to green to start receiving emails again.
You can even block senders directly from the email in your inbox. A banner allowing you to do so was added in as of Privowny App v1.34.
We don’t store your emails, so you won’t be able to recover emails sent to aliases you’ve blocked.
If you get an email to your alias from an unexpected source, check the Alias Manager. Look at the sender’s name. If it says “unknown” there is a chance that your alias email address was breached or sold, or maybe you accidentally shared it. If you want to stop receiving emails from this unknown sender simply switch the toggle to gray.
That’s it. With the Alias Manager you can start taking back control of your identity and inbox.
