Where can I find it?
The Password Manager is accessible from the navbar. It is symbolized by a key.

The Password Manager displays every set of login credentials that you have saved.
To see the details of an account:
- Tap on the company/website name
Login credentials = User ID + Password. The set is saved as an entity and can be retrieved together when you need to access an account. A User ID can be a lot of different things: a username, an email address, a phone number, etc.
Using the Password Manager

You can manually add as many accounts as you wish. The Password Manager is a vault and your passwords will be automatically protected (encrypted). This can be convenient when you are new to our product and want to store and protect your old passwords in your Manager as quickly as possible. To do this:
- Tap on the big yellow
button (bottom right) —> it opens a new screen
- Enter the account information in the fields (Company, Website URL, User ID, Password)
- Tap on “Save” to store your data (or on “x” to close the screen without saving)
You can conveniently generate an alias and generate or customize a password directly in the Password Manager as you are creating a new account.

All your passwords are encrypted by default. If you want to temporarily decrypt an encrypted password to see it:
- Tap on the account you are interested in to see its details
- Tap on the
icon or on the encrypted password
- If prompted, enter your Master Key or use Face ID / Touch ID
The password for this account is now readable (it has been decrypted and you can now see it “in the clear”). It will be automatically re-encrypted when you change screens.
Your Master Key is a sequence of characters that you created and that you and only you know. It is used to decrypt the sensitive data stored in your Managers. You are it's only guardian, we truly have no access to it (and therefore can't misuse it our put it at risk), so make sure to keep it safe and not lose it or your encrypted data would stay in gibberish form forever. The good news is: this is the only password you now need to remember!
You can adapt your preferences regarding the Master Key from the security section of your Settings. Learn more
To use Face ID or Touch ID, you need to link it to your Master Key. It is as safe as entering the Master Key and more convenient. To set up Face ID or Touch ID, go to the Settings, and under “Biometric authentication” tap on the relevant toggle to enable the one you want.
You can copy your User ID or your Password into the clipboard if you need them to fill forms. For this:
- Tap on the company name for the account you would like to copy —> it opens a new page with your account credentials
- Tap on the
icon to the right of the item you wish to copy into the clipboard (User ID or Password)
- If you wish to copy a password then you may need to type your Master Key (or use Biometric authentication instead: Face ID or Touch ID) since passwords are always stored encrypted
You may need to edit an account at some point. Imagine you wish to replace a weak password by a strong one:
- Tap on the company name for the account you would like to edit —> it opens a new page with your account credentials
- Tap on “EDIT”
- Tap on Password and enter a new one (or tap on the
icon and generate a new strong password directly from here) — if you wish to edit a User ID instead, tap on it and either type a new User ID or tap on
icon to generate an alias email address
- Tap “SAVE”
The Password Manager has a powerful search engine built-in to help you easily find what you need.
- Tap on the company name for the account you wish to delete —> it opens a new page with your account credentials
- Tap on “DELETE”
- Enter your Master Key or use Face ID / Touch ID to confirm it’s you
When you delete a company from your Password Manager, the account(s) associated with it will no longer be stored in your Manager but it doesn’t mean that they are not still active. To remove yourself from a company you are registered with, you need to contact them directly.
Using the Safari Extension or Privowny Autofill to register
You can use the Safari Extension or Privowny Autofill (as of v.1.22) to fill registration forms. You can then take advantage of the built-in password and alias email generators or use credentials of your choosing. In any case, when you use the Safari Extension or Privowny Autofill to register, your login credentials are automatically saved (and your password encrypted!) in your Managers.
In order to use these features on your Apple device and therefore to benefit fully from your Privowny App, you need to activate the Safari Extension and/or Privowny Autofill in the Settings. Without this, you’ll miss out on an easy and efficient way to create safe and private credentials and store them at the same time!
